Women's Football

WPL, W35 and W10

Just keeping everyone in the loop

W10  we only had 3 clubs apply so this grade will not be going ahead

W35 we only had 2 grades apply so this grade will not be going ahead (8 clubs said they would be entering at the last Womens forum, it would appear they didnt get the numbers up)  Would this be better populated if it was a W30 competition.  I would be interested in feed back please on W30, can you please advise on the following email address

WPL, much better so far with now 9 teams and I am chasing the 10th who SHOULD be playing WPL this season

TUGGERAH UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

TUGGERAH UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB hopes to take another step forward in 2009 with the introduction to the Club of DIVISION ONE MENS competition & PREMIER LEAGUE WOMEN.  Read more in news below.

WPL AND W14’s WIN CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS

What a huge effort for our girls, both the Ourimbah Womens Premier League and Kincumber W14A’s won the final in the Football NSW Champion of Champions tournament on the 26th October at Valentine Sports Park.  This is the second year running for the Kincumber Roos FC who won Football NSW Champion of Champions in the 2007 season as W12A

The Roos Womens Co-Ordinator Glenn Onysko said, “We are continually building on the depth and talent that is coming through our ranks in women’s football.”  Coach John Manners has trained and refined the girls skills to build a team that are not only talented but also have a great team spirit and passion towards the game.  All this has culminated towards a tremendous year following their success in the local competition becoming the League Champions and then Premiers in the Grand Final.

Stats for this year, 22 Wins, 2 Losses, 3 Draws, 104 GF (scored), 23 GA (scored against)

The "MBF Champion of Champions" competition are played by the team champions of each age group from every association across the state (Metropolitan & Country).  Teams are pitted against each other in a knockout competition to decide the ultimate Champion of Champions for each age group.

Our Kincumber girls team progressed through to the final by defeating  Lilli Pilli 4-2, Glenmore Park 3-1, Rooty Hill RSL 2-0, and then meeting Northbridge in the final in which Kincumber girls won 4 - 2

"This has been another fantastic year for Central Coast Football. Also, congratulations to the winners, Kincumber, Kanwal and Ourimbah, all of whom have been the first teams to win these age groups in Central Coast Football history!"...said a jubilant Murray Nettheim, CCF Operations Manager.

"A huge effort to Kincumber Roos, who also won the Champion of Champions Final as Women's Grade 12 in 2007!  These young girls are an outstanding team, brilliantly coached.  Also to Ourimbah United for making the finals two years in a row.  Overall, this is a wonderful continuing result showing that Central Coast clubs are equal to, if not better than some of the metropolitan.

A Special little lady

My sportswomanship award goes to a young lady in the 10G team KDS team.

Last Wednesday night (24-9) the Terrigal and KDS 10G teams played their FINAL game on PP1.   During a tackle a Terrigal girl accidental went down, no big deal, she just fell over.  The KDS player involved, stopped her run on the ball and went back to make sure she was alright.  Whilst this innocent deed may go mostly unnoticed by some, I personally saw an incredible sense of sportsmanship.  Congratulations Abigaile Groth on a fantastic effort.  You are indeed a credit to your team and to your club.  You are the banner girl for fair play and sportsmanship.

It might also be noted that both the Terrigal and KDS 10G Saturday mixed competition teams are ALL GIRL TEAMS.

OURIMBAH WINS PL

There was no stopping a very strong Ourimbah team taking out the 2008 Premier League Competition 7- nil over Budgiewoi.  Great effort ladies and congratulations to Cait Walker and her team.  In other Grand Final games played the W12A went to Terrigal, W14A went to Kincumber, W16A went to KDS and W18A went to Gosford.

DIRECTION 2009

This was held on Wednesday, 3 September, 2008 starting sharply at 7.30pm at the Central Coast Leagues Club in the Parkview Room.

The forum was attended and supported by 18 of the 22 clubs.  Issues below were discussed and are being addressed at this time

10 Team competitions in WPL and AA1 - 2009 Season will have 10 team Premier League and 10 Team WAA1

The lack of willingness to enter WPL has to be over ridden by the obvious skills of lower grade teams.

Time allocation, and lower teams unable to back up-being looked at

Are all coaches accredited to coach women?

We need to aim towards that to assist in raising the quality of players who do want to aspire up

8 teams for all WAA grades, if possible

The Introduction of W35 comp under the following

There are 211 over 35 players on the central coast for the 2008 season

Proposal of teams of up to 20 players, same as men’s 35 with the extra ability of registering between 3 under-aged players 30 – 35 years.

W35 games time to be 30 minutes and to be played on a Sunday as all other Women’s Games.

We had 8-9 clubs immediately interested, aiming for entering teams next season

Referees and assistants for women’s senior games-being forwarded for comment to the referees association, but as discussed at the meeting there is a real need for more referees to cover all the games being played.

Girls Gala Day to be run at beginning of season, what age – waiting for ideas from clubs

W10 Competition was discussed in detail – this will be the third year we have tried to introduce this but we never get enough clubs on board to start the grade.  The first question is should we introduce this grade or leave it and allow the younger girls to play in mixed teams which eventually does make stronger players our of them.

If we do introduce this should it be played on full-sized field or Grade 9 fields, do we play Saturday or Sunday.

More info coming

A database of interested parties, players and coaches involved in Womens/Girls football has been set up

SECURITY OF POSSESSIONS AT GROUNDS
05 May 2009

There have been reports coming in from clubs around the coast about a bag thief targeting sports bags at club grounds. We ask that all precautions be taken, have your team official or other recognised person stay with your bags at all times, secure all valuables or leave them locked in your vehicle if possible. If you see ANYONE that you are unsure of loitering around your belongings, ensure your team official or ground official is advised immediately. Theft is punishable by law, and should the person be apprehended, we ask that all legal processes to take place. Again, please secure your bags and belongings and leave them with a trustworthy team official, or someone you trust that will remain with the bags during the game duration. read more >

FNSW AFTER STARS OF TOMORROW!
19 March 2009

Football NSW and ‘Football Stars of Tomorrow’ require 10 candidates from football to feature in our ‘Star of the Week’ segment. The type of person FNSW are looking for is someone who does a lot of work for a particular club , is not paid for what they do and is recognised by their peers as invaluable to the club . FNSW are not looking for a star player , but rather , a ‘star’ contributor to the running of the club. Examples from 2008 included Vince and Val Laws from Canterbury and Joan Hatch from Sylvania. Could you please forward on suggested candidates to Mark Stavroulakis or Tony Peters ASAP with a good argument as to why the person nominated should be recognized .
